Tollgate turns your doomscrolling into study time. You pick the apps that eat your hours, decide how long one scroll session should last, and choose a topic worth knowing. Then you go live your life.
Here is the loop:
- You scroll. Nothing changes until your time is up. Tollgate stays out of the way.
- The gate comes down. When you hit your allowance, iOS covers the app with the Tollgate shield. The feed goes dark mid scroll.
- You pay the toll. One multiple choice question on your topic. Answer it right and the shield lifts, usually in under a second, and you get your next block of time.
- Or you walk away. Closing your phone instead of answering counts as a win. We keep score of those too.
That is the entire product. There are no lockouts, no schedules to configure, and no willpower required up front. The question is the friction, and unlike a blocker that just says no, this friction pays you back in things you actually know.
A few things worth understanding:
- Each correct answer buys a fresh block of your chosen allowance, not extra minutes stacked on top.
- The gate works offline. Questions are stored on your phone before you ever need one.
- Tollgate never locks you out. If you want in, one right answer is always enough. The point is the pause, not the punishment.
The enemy is the scroll, not you.
