Restarts, reinstalls, and what survives

Updated 28 Jul 2026

Restarting your iPhone: everything survives

Reboot freely. The guard’s schedule lives inside iOS’s Screen Time system and survives restarts on its own, and Tollgate re-checks and re-arms the guard every time it launches anyway, as a belt and braces measure. Stats, streaks, settings, and your app picks all carry through untouched.

In fact, restarting is one of our most recommended fixes when Screen Time misbehaves. There is no scenario where a reboot costs you anything.

Deleting and reinstalling Tollgate: read this first

Tollgate keeps everything on your phone. That is the privacy promise, and it has one honest consequence: deleting the app deletes your data. There is no account and no cloud copy to restore from.

After a reinstall:

“I’ll just uninstall it when it annoys me”

You could. It is your phone, and Tollgate will never make deleting hard. Our honest counterargument is that the gate is one question, not a wall, so the annoyed version of you already has a faster exit: answer the question, or close the phone. Both are quicker than a reinstall, and both keep the streak you have been building.

If you do leave and come back, we will be here. Fresh stats, same gate.
