The sheet where you choose apps to guard is Apple’s own component. That is what keeps your picks invisible to us, but it also means Tollgate hosts the sheet without controlling its internals, and the sheet has moods.
The picker opens to a blank or frozen sheet
Known Apple quirk. Tollgate watches for it: if the picker produces no response within a couple of seconds, a “Picker didn’t open? Reload it” prompt appears. Tap it and the sheet reloads fresh, which almost always fixes it. If it does not, close the sheet, force quit Tollgate, and try again. Beyond that, a phone restart clears the deepest sulk.
The picker will not open at all
- Are you on a real iPhone? Screen Time does not exist in the iOS simulator, and the picker cannot render there. The app will tell you this directly if it detects it.
- Is Screen Time access granted? Without it the system will not serve the picker. Check Settings inside Tollgate, or re-grant access.
- Is App & Website Activity on? Settings → Screen Time → App & Website Activity. Off means the whole Screen Time stack is dormant.
My selection did not save
Two things to know:
- Give the sheet a beat before dismissing. Your selection is saved as you tap, but the save is confirmed as the sheet closes. Tapping Done normally is always safe. Swiping the sheet away with force the instant you tap the last app occasionally races the save.
- Cancelling is not saving. If you dismiss without confirming, Tollgate deliberately keeps your previous selection and does not restart the guard, so a cancelled picker never hands you a fresh allowance by accident.
If picks repeatedly vanish after a normal Done, that is a bug we want to hear about. Email with your iOS version.
