Tollgate has a rule about lapsed subscriptions: the core loop is never punished for not paying. Whether Pro ended because you cancelled, a card expired, or a trial ran out, here is exactly what happens.
What keeps working, untouched
- The gate itself. Shields fire, tolls work, walk-aways count. The free tier’s guard is forever.
- Your streak and this week’s stats. Nothing resets, nothing is deleted.
- Your all-time totals in History stay visible. That part is free to know, always.
- The free topics, General knowledge and Math.
What returns to free tier limits
- Guarded apps above the free limit. Here is the part other apps get wrong and we refuse to: your extra apps are not silently unguarded. Everything you had guarded keeps working. Instead, Home and Settings show a notice asking you to either renew or choose which app to keep. You decide, on your schedule. Until you do, the gate keeps standing everywhere you put it.
- Pro topics. The next toll draws from a free topic instead. Your streak carries over, as always.
- The week by week ledger in History goes back behind the Pro gate. The underlying data is not deleted, and it all comes back the moment you resubscribe or restore.
If the lapse was an accident
A failed renewal (expired card, usually) can end Pro without you noticing. Fix the payment method in Settings → your name → Payment & Shipping, then resubscribe or tap Restore purchases. Everything, ledger included, picks up where it left off.
No guilt screens, no countdown timers, no “your data will be deleted” threats. The enemy is the scroll, and that fight continues on the free tier just fine.
